About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Development Engineer to join our team at State Street. As a key member of our Global Technology Services (GTS) team, you will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of new server-side components, microservices, web APIs, and enhancements to the BestX product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality server-side components and microservices using modern Agile methodologies and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the BestX product and its associated technologies, including Transaction Cost Analysis and key benchmarks required for MiFID and MiFIR.
  • Lead the development of clean-code and design patterns, ensuring the application is scalable, maintainable, and efficient.
  • Take ownership of tasks and projects, driving them to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language (Java, C++, or C#) and a strong understanding of object-oriented design, distributed systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Extensive experience in designing and building low-level APIs for high-volume, latency-sensitive applications, including multi-threading, data structures, grid computing, and message-oriented middleware.
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS and/or other modern cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
