Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Manager to join our team at Turner & Townsend Group. As a Cost Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients across various sectors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage commissions of varying sizes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cost management services
  • Assist in feasibility studies and write procurement reports to support client objectives
  • Estimate and cost plan projects, producing and presenting final cost plans using relevant cost management tools and services
  • Tender and procure projects, managing the pre-qualification stage, producing tender lists, and compiling contractual documents
  • Conduct contract administration, dealing with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
  • Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients
  • Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages
  • Collaborate with Turner & Townsend's project management team during project delivery
  • Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities
  • Utilize our full suite of bespoke digital cost management tools and services
  • Implement our Embodied Carbon Calculator, a bespoke carbon accounting tool, to produce carbon footprint reports
  • Support the execution of our NewLeaf strategy
  • Manage internal fees, internal job costing, and resourcing requirements

Reporting and Performance Indicators

Cost Managers will report to a Senior Cost Manager or Associate Director, depending on the context. Key performance indicators include:

  • Managing commissions to the right quality standards and completing them efficiently and on time
  • Delivering services on commissions in line with the conditions of appointment
  • Developing good relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
  • Working effectively as a member of the cost management team, including taking responsibility for Assistant Cost Managers
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new business with existing clients
  • Tracking margin levels on all commissions
  • Cascading and retaining key information and data effectively

Qualifications

  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar)
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
