About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Facilities Director to join our team at Whittington Health. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our facilities, including the provision of switchboard services, accommodation, security, helpdesk, patient transport, catering, and linen and laundry services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide visible leadership to staff, promoting a clear sense of direction within the directorate.
  • Line management responsibility for the Service Manager for Domestic and Portering, a Band 8A position.
  • Manage the day-to-day services for various areas, including main reception, pest control, switchboard services, accommodation, security, facilities helpdesk, patient transport, catering, and linen and laundry services.
  • Act as the Facilities Directorate's Lead and be responsible for areas such as Patient-Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE), Essence of Care, Ward Housekeeper Programme, Basic Care Services Network, North/Central London Sector, Investors in People, and National Standards of Cleanliness.
  • Develop and implement relevant operational policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.
  • Manage and monitor the operation of all service functions and Trust assets in a safe, efficient, and economic manner.
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust's SFIs/SIs and policies and procedures, as well as all relevant Facilities Service Codes of Practice, statutory requirements, and professional standards.
Person Specification
  • Masters degree qualification in Hotel and Catering Services.
  • Ability to manage high-profile/sensitive situations.
  • First-class management and team-building skills.
  • Proven core skills in senior management relating to technology, finance, staff management, health and safety, prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines, and leadership.
  • Ability to negotiate to successful business conclusions.
  • High level of communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills to large groups of people.
  • Ability to use and act on own judgment.
  • Skills associated with chairing committee meetings.
  • Ability to chair disciplinary hearings and make and deliver sound judgments accordingly.
  • High-speed accurate typing skills.
Knowledge
  • Significant experience at senior level (10 years+).
  • Significant experience in managing at senior manager level - 10 years+.
  • Proven experience within the main key areas of the role.
  • Managing budgets in the region of £11+ million in a demanding environment.
  • Proven track record in delivering financial targets.
  • Developing policy and procedure, specific and diverse.
  • Implementing policy and monitoring.
  • Dealing with professional bodies/agencies.
  • Delivering high-quality services in a demanding environment.
  • Experience of delivering income targets and how to achieve year-on-year increases.
  • Delivering change with time frame.
  • Proven track record of leading projects to successful conclusion.
  • Running committee meetings accurately and professionally.
