Position: Materials Technology Engineer (Research & Technology)

Location: Flexible working arrangements available, including hybrid options. Specific locations may include various sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the identification, exploration, evaluation, and experimentation of innovative material technologies.
  • Assist in the validation of materials engineering processes, documentation, and related protocols.
  • Recognize the significance of ongoing business enhancement and propose new methodologies to optimize processes, improve workflows, and enhance team productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with materials, manufacturing engineering, and operational teams to address inquiries.
  • Prepare technical documentation pertinent to specific tasks to ensure effective communication of findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with internal and external clients to meet project requirements and manage minor trials on integrated or operational platforms.
  • Actively contribute to working groups, industry exhibitions, workshops, and seminars to expand professional networks.
  • Participate in elevating the overall skill set within the discipline to align with current and future Research and Technology needs.

Required Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a technology, engineering, or science-related field.
  • Proven experience in research and development.
  • Involvement in the creation of testing protocols.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Project management experience.

Desirable:

  • Progressing towards registration as an Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the relevant engineering council.
  • Familiarity with submarine or naval engineering.
  • Background in materials engineering or chemistry.
