Job Title: Engineer - Materials Technology (R&T)

Salary: £35,802+ depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist with identification, research, assessment, and trials of new material technologies and innovations
  • Support with the validation of materials engineering related processes, instructions, and associated documents
  • Understanding the importance of continuous business improvement and identify new ways of working, including opportunities to improve processes, working practices and team efficiency
  • Working very closely with materials, manufacturing engineering, and operations team to answer queries
  • Draft technical reports relevant to a particular task to ensure findings are successfully communicated with internal and external customers
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to satisfy the needs of a project and to administer minor trials on in-built / in-service platforms
  • Actively participate in working groups, trade shows, workshops and seminars to develop a network of professional contacts
  • Participate in raising the overall discipline skills to meet current and future Research and Technology (R&T) requirements in the MTC

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience, in a technology, engineering or science related discipline
  • Demonstrable experience in research and development
  • Involved in the development of test plans
  • Stakeholder Management experience
  • Experience in Project Management

Desirable

  • Working towards the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council
  • Knowledge of submarine or naval engineering
  • Background in materials engineering Chemistry

The Research and Development Team:

As an Engineer, you will be part of a team that is working on technology management to develop material solutions for existing engineering problems within submarine projects. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
