About the Role:

Mercer, a global leader in investment consulting and investment solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Insurance Portfolio Manager to join our Portfolio Management team in London or Dublin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing portfolios for insurance investors with a focus on fixed income asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage portfolios for insurance investors, with a particular emphasis on fixed income asset classes.
  • Design, select, and construct portfolios under delegated management, leveraging the scale and reach of our existing discretionary platform.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across the business to ensure effective implementation of investment decision-making.
  • Contribute to investment philosophy, portfolio construction, and manager selection for our insurance client portfolios.
  • Represent the portfolio management team internally and externally, including at C-Suite levels.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all asset classes relevant for insurance allocators.
  • Proactively identify and manage value-added ad hoc projects.
  • Help design and implement new investment solutions, supporting business development and client management initiatives.
  • Present to clients with clarity and confidence, backed by a detailed understanding of the subject matter.
  • Be a subject matter expert across Insurance clients.
  • Help lead the day-to-day management of the team, including acting as a mentor/manager.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of insurance investor requirements, with an emphasis on insurance fixed income markets, including regulatory regimes, typical insurance constraints, investment objectives, rating agency considerations, etc.
  • Investment background and highly numerate, with an analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to clients, prospects, market participants, and the media.
  • Proven leadership, with the ability to influence and challenge.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization and build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Critical thinking, naturally curious, and a problem-solver, with a get-involved attitude.
  • Ability to work flexibly, independently, and collaboratively as part of a team.
