About the Role

The National Trust is seeking a highly skilled Audience Development Manager - Mid-Level Giving to join our team on a 24-month fixed-term contract. This role will play a critical part in the Fundraising Growth programme, which aims to create sustainable, professional, and scalable fundraising capabilities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a growth plan for mid-level giving, working closely with the Head of Public Fundraising, Head of Philanthropy, and Audience Development Lead for Major Donors.
  • Identify opportunities for propositions and products, assessing potential income and required expenditure.
  • Understand donors through sourcing and analyzing historic data, audience profiling information, and market research.
  • Define and build audience personas and capture supporter journeys.
  • Manage input from stakeholders representing various disciplines, including Philanthropy, Patrons, Stewardship, Events, Communications, Marketing, and Membership teams.
  • Represent your audience segment in programme workshops.
  • Define the capabilities required across the Trust's 'fundraising ecosystem' to make the most of the fundraising potential for your audience.
  • Build hypotheses for growth and new capabilities that can be tested within the programme, capturing learnings and measuring impact.

Requirements

  • Experience as a senior member of staff developing and delivering mid-level giving in complex national organizations, ideally with central and regional fundraising functions.
  • Developed fundraising strategies for mid-level giving fundraising, including growth strategies.
  • Solid understanding of audiences and a track record of developing new propositions or products for a particular audience, using insights and data to inform your approach.
  • Collaborative, creative, and adept at building and challenging ideas in a productive and positive way.
  • Outstanding communications skills and confident working with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Passion for fundraising and a strong desire to advance the charitable mission of the National Trust.
  • Understanding of different acquisition funnels and retention journeys in mid-level giving and how they relate to major giving.
