About the Role:

The Ada Lovelace Institute is seeking a UK Public Policy Lead to spearhead the development and refinement of UK Government policies and legislation concerning data and artificial intelligence. This role is pivotal in advancing Ada's mission to ensure that data and AI serve the interests of individuals and society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive policy research and engage with stakeholders to influence legislation pertaining to data and AI.
  • Focus on ongoing policy discussions and the potential for new regulations that enhance the UK's framework for AI governance, including data protection laws.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director for Policy and senior leadership to shape Ada's policy initiatives, conduct timely research, and lead responses to policy consultations.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with civil society organizations, academic institutions, government bodies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute Ada's UK policy strategy while contributing to the broader organizational strategy.
  • Facilitate regular policy strategy workshops, engaging colleagues across policy, public affairs, and communications to ensure cohesive efforts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in UK Government departments and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a background in policy or regulatory environments, with a strong understanding of the UK policy landscape, particularly in relation to data and AI. A passion for the intersection of technology and society, coupled with a commitment to integrating multidisciplinary perspectives into policymaking, is essential.
