We're now looking for a Director of Public Policy to direct and coordinate all government affairs matters for GNM, working closely with key company executives to identify and pursue opportunities in the UK and internationally to advance the global and regional policy objectives of GNM.

About the Role

Build and execute a proactive GNM public affairs strategy, aligned to business priorities.
Design, lead and manage the implementation of public affairs projects.
Provide expert counsel and identify specific actions related to opportunities and threats presented by government policy.
Create an engagement programme for senior GNM executives to meet with senior policy-makers.
Work with international colleagues to ensure that GNM policy and advocacy activities are coordinated across global offices.
Write clear, compelling briefings, letters and consultations to make the best case possible for business and editorial priorities.
Work closely with communications team colleagues to manage the profiles of GNM's senior management team in all public affairs matters, and lead on preparation of comprehensive interview briefings and writing speeches and presentations as required.
Input to industry groups where appropriate and represent GNM in public forums.
Condense and explain complex legal or legislative texts into clean briefings, both verbal and written.
Develop strong relationships with public affairs counterparts at priority clients and partners.

About You
The candidate will bring considerable experience of managing successful and innovative public affairs campaigns in complex, issues-rich organisations.
Leadership, the ability to impact at the most senior level, and to bring solutions in a busy work environment are necessary qualities.
Frontline public affairs experience covering proactive and tactical planning across a range of different channels and media, including face-to-face engagement.
An impressive track record of achievement in public affairs gained at senior level within media, broadcasting or an industry of similar scale and complexity.
Knowledge of how Westminster and Whitehall work, as well as an understanding of how the UK interacts with international agendas.
Politically and media savvy, with a track record of successful issues-led campaigns that set the policy agenda.
An excellent campaigner with the ability to construct a powerful and compelling argument, good understanding of what drives media agendas, stakeholder mapping, understanding of the relevant stakeholders and their agendas.
A deep knowledge on communications, technology and journalism is preferable.
Exceptional writing ability - with an emphasis on turning complex issues into digestible briefings.
Confident representing the GNM or parts of the organisation in public, sometimes under intense scrutiny.
