About the Role

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead the Policy Research Programme, driving strategic initiatives and influencing science, policy, and practice in the health and care sectors.

The successful candidate will oversee the NIHR policy research portfolio, including Policy Research Units (PRUs), the Call-off Analytical Facility, and Evidence Review Facilities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to maximise the impact of commissioned research on national policy
  • Collaborating with the Department of Health and Social Care's Science, Research, and Evidence Directorate to drive policy initiatives
  • Leading a team of researchers and analysts to deliver high-quality research and evidence
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and research institutions

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in evidence-informed policy making, ideally through commissioning and translating evidence into government policy.

They will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives forward.
