Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for the recruitment of additional midwifery practitioners to join our Community Midwifery team. This role encompasses the provision of comprehensive care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal phases.

The position is diverse, allowing midwives to operate within community hubs as well as in the residences of women, birthing individuals, and their families.

Midwives will have the chance to facilitate childbirth, deliver antenatal education, and actively participate as integral members of the broader multi-professional teams.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering holistic midwifery care to women/birthing individuals and infants during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal stages.

Care will be administered in various settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and community environments, which includes managing individual caseloads and ward areas.

The midwifery practitioner will also take on responsibilities in the absence of the Band 7 in the community. This role is multifaceted and requires flexibility to work across different community settings.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Practicing Midwife
  • Maintained an up-to-date professional portfolio
  • Training in obstetric emergencies

Desirable

  • Teaching/Mentoring qualification
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience in all facets of midwifery practice
  • Competencies relevant to the area of practice

Desirable

  • Evidence of further study and professional development
  • Experience in mentoring students

Knowledge

Essential

  • Proficient in written and spoken English to fulfill relevant duties
  • Awareness of current evidence-based midwifery practices
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in fetal monitoring
  • Knowledge of effective management of obstetric emergencies
  • In-depth understanding of medicines management
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues

Desirable

  • Broad knowledge of contemporary midwifery issues
  • Competence in perineal suturing
  • Competence in IV medicines administration
  • Competence in cannulation
  • Competence in caring for women with epidural analgesia (Acute unit)
