Legal Department Overview
The Legal team oversees the company's legal matters, from compliance to litigation, collaborating with various departments such as Sales, Operations, Human Resources, and Innovation. The team also partners with external law firms to create a robust legal strategy, managing these relationships to address issues efficiently. Unlike many organizations where legal roles are strictly advisory, Vantage empowers its legal professionals to directly influence business decisions, aligning legal strategies with long-term operational goals and risk management.
Position Summary
This role can be based in multiple locations.
The Director of Compliance & Senior Corporate Counsel for North America is tasked with designing and executing the compliance program within the region. This position collaborates closely with business leaders on ethics and compliance initiatives, requiring a proactive mindset, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. The ideal candidate will foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Strategy and Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
- Continuously enhance Vantage's ethics and compliance framework, including drafting and revising policies to prevent unethical conduct while maintaining a business-oriented approach.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues.
- Implement the global anti-bribery and anti-corruption framework.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes, updating policies as necessary.
- Provide guidance on compliance matters related to various operational areas.
- Support corporate sustainability and diversity initiatives.
- Enhance compliance systems, including whistleblower hotlines and case management tools.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Draft and update company policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure employee awareness and adherence to compliance policies through training and communication.
- Maintain a compliance documentation system for accessibility.
Risk Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance risks.
- Supervise compliance due diligence on third-party vendors.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
- Integrate risk management into operational processes.
Regulatory Affairs:
- Stay updated on regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on compliance issues.
Training and Awareness:
- Design and deliver compliance training programs for all employees.
- Ensure training materials are current and reflect regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of ethics and compliance throughout the organization.
Internal Investigations:
- Conduct internal investigations in collaboration with internal partners and external counsel as needed.
- Recommend corrective actions for compliance issues.
- Ensure investigations are conducted fairly and confidentially.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on compliance activities.
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance efforts and outcomes.
- Develop compliance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- JD from an accredited law school is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs, preferably in the data center or technology sector.
- Experience in anti-bribery, trade compliance, data privacy, and internal investigations.
- Preferred experience in corporate compliance and ethics, particularly in-house compliance counsel roles.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of compliance regulations in the data center industry.
- Ability to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Exemplary leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex compliance issues effectively.

Additional Information
- Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 Base + Bonus.
