Specialty Doctor in Neurology

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our team in Neurology, specializing in Learning Disability Psychiatry. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment, providing high-quality care to patients with complex needs.
Main Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric input to the Purbeck and Ferndown Community Learning Disability Teams, as well as the Intensive Support Team.
- Work collaboratively with community teams to cover routine and emergency work, ensuring waiting lists are managed effectively.
- Offer opinions and advice to colleagues on mental health act work, with the ability to provide section 12 approvals.
- Participate in the on-call rota, depending on experience and section 12 approval status.
- Provide medical cross-cover for annual, study, and emergency sick leave with medical colleagues in the adult LD psychiatry service.

Person Specification- General medical qualification, e.g., GMC registration.
- A minimum of four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis).
We are looking for a candidate with a strong interest in applying psychiatric practice to patients with Learning Disabilities, as well as experience in medicine outside psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have high-level clinical skills, knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act, and the ability to make decisions based on evidence and experience.
