Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our Emergency Department team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. As a Specialty Doctor, you will play a key role in providing high-quality emergency care to patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

As a Specialty Doctor in our Emergency Department, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality emergency care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participating in the middle tier rota, covering 24 hours, seven days a week, to ensure adequate staffing levels and continuity of care.
  • Undertaking professional development and participating in audit to ensure all clinical governance areas are met.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor who possesses the following qualities:

  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative.
  • Ability to know own limitations and when to seek advice.
  • Meet the requirements of the GMC's Good Medical Practice.

Desirable Criteria

  • Computer/IT research skills.
  • Ultrasound accreditation or equivalent.

Experience

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor with the following experience:

  • Completion of at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) with at least 2 years in Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
  • Experience of managing the Emergency Department as the Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC).

Interpersonal Skills

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor who possesses the following interpersonal skills:

  • Approachable manner.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Training

We require a Specialty Doctor who possesses the following qualifications and training:

  • ALS.
  • Able to speak English as necessary for the role.
