Practice Development Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Practice Development Nurse to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Practice Development Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the development and education of our nursing staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice
- Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure that own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge and latest evidence-based practice.
- Work within the 7-day service as required.
- Demonstrate specialist nursing knowledge in clinical settings, and support the advancement of knowledge and skills using approved assessment procedures.
- Work effectively as part of the multi-professional, inter-disciplinary team, encouraging and supporting other healthcare professionals in the promotion and maintenance of an effective learning environment.
- Demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills with patients and their relatives/carers, thereby acting as a positive role model for nurses and other staff.
- Maintain accurate records of training undertaken by each member of staff.
- Education and Research
- Facilitate the learning and continuing development of all nursing staff within the department, ensuring that education is responsive to service developments.
- Work collaboratively with HEIs and other Trust colleagues on Education Quality Reviews in relation to the quality of the clinical learning environment, where applicable, Sim training, Trachy training, PANIC course for Paed.
- Management
- Manage own time to ensure a balance between clinical and administrative activities.
- Produce appropriate educational data or reports requested by Ward leaders, Matrons, Heads of Nursing.
- Ensure all nursing staff receive a comprehensive and individualized induction and orientation package on commencement of the post, including the identification of a named mentor/buddy.
- Be an active member of the Trust's Practice Development Forum.
- Personal Professional Development
- Actively participate in maintaining own professional development, identifying own educational and clinical training needs with Line Manager.
- Ensure own mandatory training certificates are current.
- Participate in reflective practice and maintain a personal learning portfolio.
- General
- The post holder has a general duty of care for their health, safety, and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors, and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
- Observe the rules, policies, procedures, and standards of King's College Hospital NHS Trust together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations.

These requirements are set out in the National Code of Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures which will be made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training. These standards must be strictly complied with at all times.
