Job Overview

The Orthopaedic Trauma Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our team as a Trauma Coordinator Specialist. This is a new initiative that will evolve over time, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach to role development.

Main Responsibilities

The Trauma Coordinator Specialist will work closely with the Orthopaedic Trauma Team to manage the pathway for patients requiring orthopaedic surgery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice to nursing and MDT teams on pre- and post-operative patient management
  • Coordinating care between the two sites (Guy's and St Thomas') and liaising with various subspecialties
  • Acting as a point of contact for patients not within the footprint of the orthopaedic ward and ambulatory trauma patients

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing
  • NMC registration
  • Masters degree or willingness to work towards one
  • Extensive experience relative to speciality
  • Advanced physical assessment skills
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification

The Trauma Coordinator Specialist will require:

  • Experience of interprofessional working
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
