Stakeholder Engagement Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stakeholder Engagement Lead to join our team at Allen & York. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our client, Water Resources East, in planning and delivering a programme of stakeholder engagement to consider objectives, priorities, options, and trade-offs in bringing river systems and waterbodies across Eastern England back to health.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Stakeholder Engagement Programme: Direct day-to-day leadership of a stakeholder engagement programme that successfully delivers Environmental Destination (ED) investigations, promoting and facilitating multi-sector involvement at all stages of the programme.
- Build Trust and Collaboration: Building trust between all parties involved in the programme to support the development of collaborative solutions and reach consensus around environmental aims.
- Develop Engagement Programme: Creating an engagement programme that leads to shared decision-making and prioritisation of environmental improvements and investment within catchments.
- Bridge Technical and Collaborative Work: Bridging the gap between technical work and collaborative decision-making, working within the technical and programme management team to develop a good level of understanding of the technical concepts and goals of the programme.
- Lead Point of Contact: Act as Water Resources East's lead point of contact with agricultural sector representatives, including the National Farmers Union, Country Land Business Association, Water for Food Group, and existing and new Water Abstractor Groups.
- Support WfFG: Support the Water for Food Group with the development of a WAG toolkit, setting out how groups of abstractors can work together and with regional groups like Water Resources East to understand their water needs and their role in finding solutions to changing water availability.
- Support LRO Screening Studies: Support Local Resource Option screening studies led by the Environment Agency, taking a lead role in specific tasks around stakeholder mapping and engagement.
- Run Agriculture Forum: Run Water Resources East's Agriculture Forum with key work in 2024/25 to develop a framework for integrating agriculture into Water Resources East's regional planning approach.
- Support Virtual Office: Support the team in the day-to-day running of the 'virtual' office, getting involved in all aspects of the small but busy team's activities.
