Logistics Operations Manager

Menzies Distribution Limited is seeking a skilled Logistics Operations Manager to oversee our distribution activities. As a pivotal player in our organization, you will contribute to our ongoing evolution and assist in driving our operational excellence.

Position Overview

  • Salary: Competitive compensation package
  • Location: Newbridge area
  • Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with potential for weekend shifts

Key Responsibilities:

Your role will involve supporting the Operations Manager in enhancing operational performance through effective leadership and management of daily activities. You will be responsible for:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager regarding depot management and supervision.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the operational team.
  • Ensuring operational performance meets and exceeds customer expectations aligned with contract KPIs.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting in achieving operational performance standards.
  • Conducting regular team reviews and facilitating training and development for staff.
  • Overseeing the efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.
  • Establishing effective communication with customers.
  • Analyzing operational and financial performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinating site maintenance to uphold health and safety standards.
  • Traveling as necessary across the UK.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph regulations, and working time directives.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop personnel.
  • Experience in budget management and project oversight.
  • Expertise in KPI development and assessment.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computerized systems, including TMS and WMS.
  • High attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
  • Background in transport management.
