About the Role:
Menzies Distribution is seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to join our team in Newbridge, just outside Edinburgh. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our logistics services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Operations Manager in maximizing the performance of the operations by directing daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
- Assist in providing leadership, motivation, training, and development of the workforce.
- Execute against customer requirements and manage remote teams as necessary.
- Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure effective working relationships.
- Ensure operational compliance, including health and safety.
- Assist the Operations Manager in ensuring all operational performance standards are met.
- Manage the team, undertaking regular reviews, planning, and arranging for the training and development of operational staff.
- Monitor the effective use of driver and vehicle resources.
- Establish and develop working relationships with customers.
- Compile and analyze operational and financial performance data to identify service efficiencies and improvements.
- Coordinate site housekeeping and maintenance to ensure health and safety requirements are upheld.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph, and WTD legislation.
- Knowledge of health and safety.
- Able to manage, motivate, and develop people.
- Budget management.
- Project management.
- KPI development and measurement.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to use and understand computerized systems, including TMS and WMS systems.
- High level of accuracy and numeracy, keen eye for detail.
- Transport management experience.
