Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering, development, integration, and validation of safety systems (including autonomous braking, adaptive cruise control, and airbag control systems) and security systems within the vehicle's electrical architecture, collaborating closely with various Functional Departments, technical partners, and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive requirements specifications, project timelines, systems calibration, and validation criteria throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance to Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) and Packaging teams to ensure optimal placement and packaging of control units and peripherals in line with installation and wiring standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary functional safety, legislative, electrical, environmental, and EMC regulations.
  • Oversee system review, verification, and validation activities, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), test planning, and functionality assessments throughout the development process.
  • Represent the Electrical Department in status meetings and engineering reviews, and act as a representative for GMG in external working groups focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in low-volume automotive production.
  • Identify and resolve faults, managing issues to resolution and serving as an authority for concessions.
  • Coordinate supplier management and support Procurement, Logistics, and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Offer support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments as needed.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, engineering, or calibration of safety and security systems within the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with relevant ADAS standards, ISO26262, and EuroNCAP is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of electrical architectures and the associated network and diagnostic technologies.
  • Proficient in CAN, FlexRay, automotive Ethernet, LIN networks, and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Experience delivering systems/components within frameworks such as APQP, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies (including FMEA, quality planning, PPAP, etc.) and engaging in full product lifecycle activities.
  • Articulate, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
  • Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or similar engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A valid driving license is essential.
  • No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or traveling within the European Union.
