Job Description

Job Title: Social Worker - Youth Justice Service

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our Youth Justice Service team at Derbyshire County Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality services to young people and their families, working in a supportive multi-agency environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct holistic assessments to identify the needs of children and young people, and develop and deliver effective work plans to facilitate their personal, social, and educational development.
  • Ensure that vulnerable children and young people, and those with a disability, are identified and supported to achieve stability, safety, and permanence.
  • Persuade, empower, and motivate families to engage and overcome barriers to change, including managing challenging behavior.
  • Work with partner agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to support children and young people.
  • Prepare pre-sentence reports and other reports for courts and multi-agency professional meetings.
Requirements:
  • A social work qualification is essential.
  • Experience of working with young people, including following intervention programs.
  • Administration and IT skills, with a flexible approach to work.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work to deadlines.
