Consultant Anaesthetist Role at Barts Health NHS Trust

CONSULTANT IN ANAESTHESIA WITH A SPECIALIZATION IN ENT/MAXILLOFACIAL ANAESTHESIA AND PRE-OPERATIVE ASSESSMENT

A permanent Consultant role has become available within the Anaesthesia department at Barts Health NHS Trust, primarily located at the Royal London Hospital. This is a permanent position that offers a remarkable opportunity to become part of a well-established team comprising over 50 consultant anaesthetists in a prominent trauma center in London.

Main Responsibilities

The Anaesthesia Department delivers services across all surgical specialties within Barts Health and is engaged in numerous innovative projects. This position is ideal for proactive individuals with the requisite skills to integrate into a high-caliber multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services to a large patient population in East London and beyond within a dynamic teaching hospital environment.

Applicants must possess full registration on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register. Specialist Registrars nearing completion of their training may apply if they are within 6 months of obtaining their CCT at the time of the interview.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Clinical Skills

Essential

  • GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • CCT in anaesthesia or equivalent, or if in training, within 6 months of CCT
  • FRCA or equivalent
  • ALS/APLS
  • Advanced training in ENT/Maxillofacial surgery, POA

Desirable

  • Experience within the UK healthcare system
  • Advanced Airway, POA/HRA training
  • Experience in major head and neck surgery

Special Knowledge/Abilities and/or Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in various anaesthesia techniques and management of major trauma
  • Experience in peri-operative patient care, including pain management
  • Experience in audit

Desirable

  • Experience in anaesthesia specialties relevant to the job plan
  • Clinical management training
  • Experience in Clinical Governance
  • Experience in postoperative management of high-risk patients
  • Experience in developing courses for nursing/AHP staff
