Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior ALM Strategy Manager to enhance the Group Asset Liability Management (ALM) team in all facets of establishing, integrating, and executing the Group's ALM Framework.

The Group ALM team is responsible for overseeing market risk management throughout the L&G Group. Your role will involve formulating investment and risk management strategies that align with the Group's strategic goals and internal risk appetites, all while considering the changing macroeconomic and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with Business Units to assess their market risk exposures across SII, IFRS, and liquidity metrics.
  • Identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization within the asset and financial risk balance.
  • Creating and implementing investment and risk management strategies and frameworks within Group/divisional ALM activities.
  • Establishing a robust link between the macroeconomic environment and its implications for effective Group ALM, particularly through scenario testing and identifying rebalancing opportunities to mitigate downside risks and enhance value.
  • Overseeing the efficient production of high-quality executive and board management information, delivering insightful analysis to support senior management decision-making.
  • Assisting the Head of Group ALM in ensuring that significant proposals and discussion points are presented to the Group Asset and Liability Committee, chaired by the Group CFO and attended by key senior management members.
  • Providing technical expertise and initiating the development of systems aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sophistication of the Group's ALM Framework.
  • Working closely with the 2nd line Group Risk Team to ensure a consistent understanding and that all proposals receive the necessary level of scrutiny and oversight.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified actuary, accountant, or investment professional with relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of investments, hedging, and capital markets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Solvency II and IFRS elements related to ALM, including Matching Adjustment and capital requirements.
  • Ability to interpret the effects of market and non-market events on reporting across various metrics (IFRS, Solvency II, liquidity).
  • Proficient in analyzing large volumes of technical data swiftly and summarizing it effectively.
  • Experience in developing code-based tools such as Python or R is advantageous.
  • Skilled in producing clear and concise written documentation or reports.
  • Experience in management and communication with senior stakeholders is preferred.
