Job Title: Advanced Sexual Health Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Sexual Health Nurse to join our team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with sexual health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake comprehensive sexual health assessments and provide evidence-based care to patients with a range of sexual health issues.
  • Initiate and review contraception medication, including emergency contraception, and insert and remove sub-dermal contraceptive implants.
  • Undertake genital examinations, testing, and treatment of asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, including the management of uncomplicated STIs and genital conditions.
  • Provide specialist advice and support on pregnancy decision-making, onward referral, and harm minimization.
  • Deliver a highly specialist sexual health outreach service to vulnerable and hard-to-reach patients.
  • Promote best practice in sex and relationships education to young people.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including activity and service monitoring data collection.
Requirements:
  • Registered General Nurse with experience in sexual health or a relevant field.
  • Accredited Contraception qualification and/or completion of the Sexual Health Integrated Pathway.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of national strategies, policy drivers, and legislation in relation to sexual health and contraception.
