TB Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced TB Nurse Specialist to join our team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all aspects of complex TB screening, contact tracing, diagnosis, management, and treatment, including neonatal vaccination, in out-patient clinics and in their own homes.
Main Responsibilities- Undertake specialist assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients with potential or diagnosed TB disease.
- Act as a point of contact for local community teams and provide education, mentorship, and leadership for junior colleagues and students.
- Provide direct management for band 5 and administration colleagues and coordinate clinical work with colleagues.
- Commit to continuous personal development and lifelong learning by attending mandatory training and adhering to trust policies and procedures.
- Participate in and provide clinical supervision and promote service development, improvements, and quality expansion and efficiencies.
- Case manage patients with potential or a TB diagnosis within a community setting without direct supervision.
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans and concordance through clinical checks, tablet counting, and providing directly observed therapy (DOT).
- Eligible BCG vaccination administration for neonates, children, and adults.
- Assist patients to identify and manage risk factors using behavioural change to self-manage their condition.
- Provide specialist advice to patients/carers in relation to programmes of care which may be complex.
- Provide and support training for the multidisciplinary team in the management of TB disease.
- Be a role model providing mentorship and coaching to the team.
- Provide positive well-being support to the team.
- Promote learning and create a learning environment.
- Support local patient groups and acts as a resource for improving health.
- NMC nursing registration.
- Post-registration experience of working in healthcare.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Understand use of health-related questionnaires and patient-reported outcome measures.
- Participates in and provides clinical supervision.
- Health Visitor or Paediatric Registration.
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Experience of vaccination administration.
- Knowledge of national and regional policies influencing TB disease.
