Job Title: Community Paediatrics Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Paediatrics Nurse Specialist to join our team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our community TB contact tracing nursing service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients with potential or diagnosed TB disease.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Undertake specialist assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients with TB disease, working closely with our TB specialist nurse lead.
  • Provide education, mentorship, and leadership to junior colleagues and students, promoting best practice and excellence in TB care.
  • Act as a point of contact for local community teams, coordinating clinical work and participating in team performance monitoring.
  • Develop and implement patient treatment plans, including non-medical prescribing and directly observed therapy (DOT).
  • Eligible to administer BCG vaccination to neonates, children, and adults.
  • Assess and manage risk, providing specialist advice to patients and carers.
  • Work closely with primary and secondary care teams to alter management plans as necessary.
  • Support service provision within the local area and wider foundation trust.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • NMC nursing registration and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assess patient need and develop individualized care plans.
  • Eligible to administer phlebotomy services.
  • Ability to identify, manage, and review adjustments in optimising TB therapies within agreed service protocols.
  • Eligible to provide specialist advice to patients and carers.
  • Ability to work closely with key members of the team from primary and secondary care.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Health Visitor or Paediatric Registration.
  • Paediatric experience.
  • Experience of vaccination administration.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
