About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Manufacturing Technician to join our team at the Skelmersdale manufacturing site, a key part of the Walkers portfolio. As a Manufacturing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines, achieving Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Maintenance (QCDM) targets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage zones to achieve QCDM targets, working closely with General Operatives (GOs) and collaborating with the wider line team.
  • Hold GOs and GSOs accountable to expected standards in Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and performance.
  • Ensure zone standards are maintained through IPS auditing and verification, identifying gaps, and building capability through training and coaching.
  • Use problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve root causes, and prescribe routine maintenance activity.
  • Support and assist GOs in replacing consumable parts, filters, sanitizing, lubricating, checking for wear, re-building, and re-starting machines.
  • Collaborate with Shift Technicians on engineering day activities and facilitate the hourly QCDM meeting.
  • Proactively identify, coach, and escalate people performance/behavior gaps, and take actions based on numerical data and machine performance.
Requirements
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or an autonomous role with some people coaching responsibilities.
  • Results-driven and understands the link between action and results.
  • Excellent influencer, capable of taking others with them.
  • Able to deliver in a fast-paced environment and working to stretch targets.
  • Good prioritization skills, motivates others, and displays integrity and trust.
  • Organized and methodical, lead by example, and demonstrate key safe behaviors.
  • Technical competence in operation or maintenance environment, and demonstrates basic mechanical competence.
