Main Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Technician (MT) plays a crucial role in influencing line performance by effectively managing their zones to achieve QCDM targets. This involves collaborating with a team of General Operatives (GOs) and working with the wider line team of MTs, Shift Technicians (STs), and Operation Team Leaders (OTLs) to understand line performance, prioritise actions, and proactively apply improved performance specification (IPS), good manufacturing practices (GMP), safety, and maintenance standards.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Responsible for holding GOs and GSOs in their zone accountable to the expected standards in Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, IPS, GMP, and performance across multiple zones.
  2. Accountable for ensuring that zone standards are maintained through continual IPS auditing and verification, identifying gaps, and building capability in the zones through training and coaching using SOP and IPS.
  3. Use problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve root causes.
  4. Responsible for prescribed routine maintenance activity, basic fault finding, non-intrusive first fixes, calibrations, and running inspections, supporting and assisting GOs in replacing consumable parts, filters, sanitising, lubricating, checking for wear, re-building, and re-starting a machine.
  5. Responsible for the identification and escalation of continual improvement opportunities to standard ways of working.
  6. Accountable for ensuring the Maintenance Management system (SAP) is utilised effectively.
  7. Accountable for facilitating the hourly QCDM meeting and making proactive contributions to the 4-hour QCDM meeting.
  8. Proactively escalating to STs and shift leadership team for assistance when necessary if issues occur outside of expected capability or role remit.
  9. Proactively identifies, coaches, and escalates people performance/behaviour gaps.
  10. Takes and drives actions based on numerical data and/or machine performance.
Requirements
  • Ideal experience in a manufacturing environment and/or an autonomous role with some people coaching responsibilities.
  • Results-driven and understands the link between action and results.
  • Able to deliver in a fast-paced environment and working to stretch targets.
  • Excellent influencer, capable of taking others with them.
  • Ability to hold people to account and coach effectively to change behaviours.
