Transport Planner Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner Operator to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a key member of our transport operation, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the activities of our fleet, ensuring maximum efficiency and performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit, and client service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Transport Manager in managing and motivating the transport team to achieve optimal performance.
  • Plan and organize the activities of the Transport Operation, including the transition between peak and off-peak activity periods.
  • Provide leadership on day-to-day transport issues, including dispatch debriefs with drivers, vehicles, and work in progress.
  • Work closely with customers to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
  • Manage and debrief drivers.
  • Maximize the use of resources within the operation by utilizing assets to the full and planning ahead.
  • Provide regular reports to the Transport Manager on customer-related and other relevant matters, making recommendations where necessary.
  • Monitor and audit Health and Safety.
  • Respond to queries via email, phone, and face-to-face in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the production of KPIs and daily statistics POD emailing.
  • Support compliance planning in line with company procedures.
  • Provide direct assistance and support for breakdowns.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and offer support and assistance as a team member.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the Transport Warehouse and logistics industry.
  • Good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and WTDs.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Track record of leading successful change.
  • Proven experience in customer relationship management.
  • Ability to present to senior key contacts within the business and to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • IT literacy, including MS Office, and strong analytical ability in reviewing data and reports.
