How You'll Contribute

As an Early Help Review Coordinator, you will be an integral part of the broader 0-25 social care service, specifically within the 0-18 social care team.

Your role will involve direct engagement with disabled children and young individuals, their families, and various support networks to ensure that children achieve optimal outcomes through effective support and inclusion, enabling them to realize their full potential.

To qualify for this position, you must currently be a directly employed staff member with South Gloucestershire Council. This role is available on a Limited Term Contract or secondment/acting up basis for a duration of 6 months. It is advisable to consult with your current manager before applying to confirm your availability for this period if you are seeking a secondment.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will conduct regular visits to children, facilitate and lead review meetings, and prepare and disseminate reports in a timely and professional manner. Additionally, you will represent young individuals or the team/service at various internal and external meetings pertinent to the families assigned to you.
  • You will engage with children in diverse environments, such as their homes and schools, to foster positive relationships and gain insights into their lived experiences.
  • Collaboration with agencies, service providers, and family members will be essential to ensure that adequate multi-agency support is available for each child and family.
  • You will review plans developed by social workers within the 0-18 team, ensuring that these plans yield favorable outcomes for children and families.
  • Gathering and sharing pertinent information will be crucial to inform reviews, assessments, and plans for children and families under our care, ensuring that the needs, voices, and perspectives of the child remain central to our efforts.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A minimum of NVQ level 3 or an equivalent qualification, or progress towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services for children and young people.
  • Experience working in a statutory environment with children, young people, and families is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and establish relationships with a diverse range of individuals while adhering to timelines to ensure that children and families receive timely support.
  • Awareness and experience in risk assessment during task preparation and execution, with the capability to take appropriate actions based on identified risks.
  • Familiarity with relevant childcare legislation, including child protection, regulations, and codes of practice; processes and procedures.

Please be aware that due to the nature of this position, obtaining an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for employment.

Access to a vehicle is necessary for travel to various locations, including home and school visits across South Gloucestershire.
