About the Role

As a Community Support Specialist with South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a vital role in enabling residents to remain living independently in their own homes. You will be responsible for coordinating an efficient response service, ensuring the timely provision of emergency and urgent personal care visits to residents in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and implement emergency personal care packages for new and existing service users, promoting independence and delivering a high standard of personalized care.
  • Coordinate an immediate response to Telecare and Carer's emergencies, utilizing your specialist knowledge, skills, and experience to respond to complex situations.
  • Assess service users with complex needs in emergency situations out of hours, compiling and implementing short-term care packages to be reviewed by the appropriate daytime services.
  • Ensure that all responders in your team have a Care Certificate where necessary and that all are up to date with supervisions, team meetings, and training.

Requirements

  • You must have a recognized and relevant professional qualification, such as a Dip Social Work, NVQ 4 in Social Care (with management components), and be registered with the appropriate authority where applicable.
  • You will have knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • You may also have knowledge of the processes and procedures of an emergency response team.

Working Arrangements

This is an out-of-hours post that works on a four-week rolling rota, with varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, requiring a full valid driving license and regular access to a vehicle or alternative appropriate means of travel.
