Job Title: Management Accountant / Cost Accountant

Job Type: Interim, 6 months

Location: Reading, outskirts (free parking)

Salary: £25ph - £35ph + holiday pay (dependent on experience / qualifications)

About the Role:

Gleeson Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Management Accountant / Cost Accountant to support our well-respected, high-profile, multi-site business. This is a sole-charge Management Accountant position, where you will be working alongside the wider finance team of 6, supporting the business and the Financial Controller with various accounting duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Finance with the production and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual Management Account Packs, as well as statutory audit information
  • Manage the technical finance requirements of the ERP accounting system
  • Assist the Head of Finance with the maintenance of projects and contracts to ensure the integrity of revenue and margin reporting
  • Assist with forward-looking financial processes, such as forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
  • Maintain month-end reconciliations and post journals as needed, including fixed assets, inventory costs, journals, accruals, sales and bookings report, un-billed reconciliations, quarterly contract revenue report, and completion of schedules
  • Prepare schedules for annual audit
  • Run the month-end revenue recognition routines every Friday and throughout the month to check performance to date
  • Manage the ERP accounting system, including pulling through opening balances for the new financial year, maintaining GL accounts, managing integrations, resolving errors, closing completed projects, processing delivered contracts, and troubleshooting system queries
  • Be actively involved in all project budget review cycles and maintain the systems with correct budgets
  • Maintain the capex tracker of actual and forecast spend vs budget
  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, etc.
  • Assist with any other ad-hoc financial duties as requested by the Management Team

Requirements:

  • Part Qualified or Finalist or Qualified, or Qualified by Experience
  • Experience in using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment (potentially)
  • Experience of Long Term Contract Accounting and Inventory (an advantage)
  • Intermediate/Advanced level user of Excel
  • Good attention to detail and happy to deal with all technical aspects of an ERP system, while also recommending adjustments
  • Ability to communicate with staff from all levels within the business and with the US sites
  • Be available at short notice to start the role or ideally by mid-October and be able to commit to a 6-month role
