Key Responsibilities:

Conduct inspections and surveys of clients' residences, providing technical assessments and recommendations for repairs and enhancements.

Offer guidance to empower clients in making informed choices regarding independent living, health, and well-being, aligning with stakeholder and funder requirements.

Prepare technical drawings using CAD, along with schedules of works or rates and specifications necessary for building control, planning authorities, and grant approval processes, adhering to established timelines.

Possess a strong understanding of relevant technical legislation and building regulations, including but not limited to Building Regulations, British Standards, CDM 2015, planning permissions, lawful developments, and the Party Wall Act 1996.

Manage the technical workload from initial assessment through to project completion, ensuring performance targets set by local authorities and internal stakeholders are met.

Facilitate regular case review meetings with Grants Officers and Occupational Therapists, leveraging relationships with external bodies to address technical challenges, including formal and informal complaints, while ensuring our services are effectively represented.

Respond to client inquiries and complaints within designated timeframes, ensuring compliance with key performance indicators and organizational policies.

Maintain accurate records, both paper and electronic, to demonstrate adherence to service specifications, commissioner requirements, and performance indicators, while ensuring confidentiality at all times.

Engage proactively with health and safety protocols, including those related to gas servicing, asbestos, and legionella, implementing our health and safety policy to ensure a safe working environment for both staff and clients.

Implement effective safeguarding practices for vulnerable adults and children, in accordance with local authority guidelines and our internal policies.

Collaborate promptly with colleagues, partner agencies, and stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare, and risk concerns, adhering to our established policies.

Participate in the review and enhancement of policies, procedures, and IT systems to improve service efficiency and effectiveness.

Conduct risk assessments related to personal safety and that of others in the working environment.

Identify personal training needs for ongoing professional development.

Contractor Management: Supervise contractors executing adaptations and repairs in residential settings.

Design and Planning: Create and plan extensions and significant adaptations to residential properties, including all necessary surveys, calculations, statutory applications, and CAD drawings.

Successfully prepare documentation for Planning and Building Regulations approval.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of building pathology and domestic construction and repair
  • Excellent communication skills, both in-person and via telephone
  • Ability to prepare and interpret numerical data and convey information clearly
  • Understanding of client needs and the advantages of a flexible, outcome-focused support service
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Familiarity with the importance of data collection and its benefits for service improvement
  • Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles as they pertain to the designated client group
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with a keen attention to detail in maintaining electronic records
