Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Portfolio Manager to enhance our investment team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Investments Director and the broader investment team in the design, oversight, and ongoing management of AJBAM Managed Portfolios. This position offers flexibility in location, with options for our Manchester or London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Investments Director in maintaining AJ Bell's discretionary managed portfolios, focusing on:
    • Governance of products through the creation and monitoring of Investment Policy Statements.
    • Strategic asset allocation frameworks and their execution.
    • Contributing to tactical asset allocation strategies.
    • Collaborating with the investment research team to develop effective portfolio implementation approaches.
    • Managing relationships with key clients.
    • Generating and presenting investment management management information.
    • Providing reports and participating in departmental meetings.
    • Executing portfolio implementation while adhering to trading regulations and considering various factors.
  • Collaborate with other business units to foster the growth of AJ Bell Investments and the organization as a whole.
  • Support business development initiatives by engaging with client firms.
  • Contribute to portfolio updates to ensure timely communication with investors.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, physics, engineering, economics, etc.).
  • Relevant Level VII QCF Qualification.
  • CFA designation preferred or at least partial completion with a commitment to finish.
  • Proficient in Morningstar Direct.
  • Strong understanding of Mean Variance Optimization.
  • Ability to interpret policy statements to ensure compliance within portfolios.
  • Creative thinker capable of evaluating existing processes and proposing enhancements.
  • Willingness to engage with compliance and risk management issues.
  • Skilled in writing investment reports tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with VBA or other programming languages is a plus.
  • Comfortable presenting in both virtual and in-person settings.
