Role Overview

This position is focused on assisting the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of prospective investment ventures, alongside the oversight and analysis of ISTARI's portfolio entities' financial outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

Investment and M&A Initiatives for ISTARI

  • Assess, implement, and present potential investment ventures
  • Independently spearhead critical workstreams to support investment-driven business development and evaluation activities

Assist the CIO in Monitoring and Optimizing Portfolio Performance

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the financial health of ISTARI's portfolio entities by managing, updating, and refining the relevant financial models, analyzing key performance drivers, tracking actual performance against projections, and highlighting significant issues to ISTARI management
  • Coordinate and manage information exchange with external valuers for the annual assessment of the portfolio and during new investment activities
  • Support the CIO and key stakeholders of ISTARI / Temasek portfolio entities in identifying and executing both standalone and cross-portfolio performance enhancement initiatives
  • Lead the valuation process for portfolio entities, collaborating with management teams, the ISTARI team, and Temasek
  • Collaborate with and assist portfolio management teams on specific finance projects, as necessary
  • Work alongside Temasek's portfolio monitoring team to ensure timely updates on ISTARI and its portfolio entities' performance

Candidate Profile

Desired Background and Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience
  • A minimum of 3-4 years in corporate finance, gained through private equity, investment banking, or management consulting, with a focus on Finance (FP&A, Accounting)
  • Familiarity with and experience in M&A transactions

Essential Skills

  • Robust financial modeling capabilities, with a solid understanding of financial statement analysis and fundamental accounting principles
  • Ability to work autonomously to analyze, interrogate, and manipulate financial forecasts at both the portfolio entity and ISTARI levels
  • Strong commercial insight, capable of evaluating financial data against strategic objectives, operational realities, and ISTARI's investment strategy
  • Comfortable presenting and engaging with senior stakeholders across various organizations (e.g., ISTARI, ISTARI's primary shareholder, portfolio entities, potential investee entities)
  • Able to navigate cross-cultural dynamics in fast-paced, unstructured team settings
