Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Investment Portfolio Strategist to enhance our investment division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Investments Director and the investment team to design, oversee, and maintain AJBAM Managed Portfolios. This position offers flexibility in location, allowing for work from various offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Investments Director in managing AJ Bell's discretionary investment portfolios, focusing on:
    • Product governance through the development and oversight of Investment Policy Statements.
    • Strategic asset allocation planning and execution.
    • Contributing to tactical asset allocation strategies.
    • Collaborating with the investment research team to formulate effective portfolio implementation methods.
    • Managing relationships with key clients.
    • Generating and presenting investment management reports.
    • Participating in departmental meetings and discussions.
    • Ensuring portfolio implementation aligns with trading regulations and other critical factors.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster the growth of AJ Bell Investments and the broader organization.
  • Support business development initiatives by engaging with client firms.
  • Contribute to portfolio updates to ensure effective communication with investors.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, physics, engineering, economics).
  • Relevant Level VII QCF Qualification.
  • CFA designation preferred or progress towards completion.
  • Proficient in Morningstar Direct.
  • Strong understanding of Mean Variance Optimization.
  • Ability to interpret policy statements to ensure compliance within portfolios.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to evaluate existing processes and propose enhancements.
  • Willingness to engage with compliance and risk management issues.
  • Capable of drafting investment reports for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with VBA or other programming languages is advantageous.
  • Comfortable presenting in both virtual and in-person settings.
