Job Title: Senior Facilities and Environmental Officer - Laboratory Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

Butterworth Laboratories, a leading contract analytical chemistry laboratory, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Facilities and Environmental Officer to join its team. As a key member of the Facilities and Environmental team, you will be responsible for ensuring the laboratory's facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, while also providing support to the Laboratory and QA teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for sample temperature monitoring devices and associated software.
  • Monitor temperature control systems during the working day to ensure equipment is working to specification.
  • Provide Laboratory and QA teams with temperature monitoring data for clients and auditors.
  • Responsible for administering asset register for analytical laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Administration and management of external service contracts for instrument maintenance, calibration, and other site services.
  • Supporting the environmental monitoring of the facilities, both internally and externally, including solvent vapors, acid fumes, noise, effluent pH, etc.
  • Assessing, analyzing, and collating data and reporting issues to the F&E Manager.
  • Providing security training for out-of-hours staff, coordinating their handover process, and providing additional support as needed.
  • Responding to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the company sites, with the ability to attend site within one hour of the emergency occurring.
  • Deputizing in the absence of the F&E Manager.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Qualification in a technical discipline.
  • Experience working in GMP, GLP, GCP, and ISO 17025 compliant environments.
  • Full UK driving license and use of own car for work purposes to attend emergency call-outs (out-of-hours call-out related mileage will be paid).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience of Comark RF500 temperature monitoring systems.
  • Experience of Q-Pulse quality management systems.

Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel). Experience in the use of laboratory-related software would be an added benefit.
  • Adaptable, with a can-do attitude and willing to adopt improved working practices.
  • Able to work autonomously, prioritizing, organizing, and completing multiple tasks within set deadlines.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and requesting support where needed.
  • Demonstratable organizational, problem-solving, and team-working skills.
  • Able to identify areas for improvement within the working remit and participate in solution implementation.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and collaborating with wider teams and individuals.
  • Comfortable with scientific complexity.
  • Naturally inquisitive and assiduous personality, with a high level of attention to detail.
