Array Cable Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an Array Cable Project Engineer for a prominent offshore wind energy developer. This role is pivotal in overseeing the engineering aspects related to the supply, jointing, termination, and testing of array cables along with associated connection equipment, ensuring adherence to high voltage cable (HVC) standards throughout project development and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering efforts for array cable systems, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
- Manage technical interfaces within the cable package, providing essential HVC technical insights to both internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Incorporate technical requirements from stakeholders into supplier designs as necessary.
- Evaluate and assess suppliers' technical proposals for alignment with project goals.
- Oversee the detailed design process towards certification, ensuring all relevant sign-offs are obtained.
- Verify supplier product designs through thorough reviews of engineering documentation or independent analyses using approved tools.
- Review and approve designs for cable routes and routing plans on offshore substations (OSS) and floating offshore units (FOU).
- Contribute technical expertise to project risk assessments, change requests, variation orders, and claims.
- Manage project-specific inspection and testing activities, including pre-qualification tests (PQT), equipment qualification tests (EQT), and factory acceptance tests (FAT).
- Review and accept quality-related documentation from suppliers, preparing internal quality assurance standards.
- Prepare inspection checklists for testing activities during manufacturing and termination phases.
- Compile and maintain operational manuals and spare parts registers for handover to operations and maintenance teams.
- Oversee the electrical and thermal aspects of cables and cable protection systems (CPS).
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of high voltage cable systems, including electrical and thermal considerations, with the ability to interpret relevant industry standards.
- Proven capability to devise effective technical solutions to challenges encountered during project development.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on and theoretical experience with high voltage array cables and accessories.
- Strong project engineering skills, including technical proficiency, integrity, communication, adaptability, teamwork, and decision-making.
- Familiarity with client IT tools and procedures is preferred.
