Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Operator to join our team in Bristol. The successful candidate will play an active role throughout the life of a production, from ingest to delivery, ensuring the continued operation of the post-production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Production and Operations teams to ensure seamless communication and progress updates.
  • Offload media and files to central storage from various sources, both physical and digital.
  • Read and understand workflows, which may differ from production to production, and complete required tasks, including:
    • Ingesting camera rushes, legacy tape, and various other file-based sources.
    • Converting files for ingest where required.
    • Grouping multiple cameras, including syncing audio.
    • Rushes labelling and project/bin arrangement.
    • Updating rushes logs.
  • Create and deliver viewing files and final deliverables.
  • Conform and create turnover assets for Online, Grade, and Audio departments.
  • Complete automated and eyeball QCs of deliverables, using own judgment to identify errors.
  • Media management of Nexis and Nearline storage systems.
  • Archiving and restoring assets from LTO tape.
  • Setup and maintain edit suites to a high standard.
  • Deal with client queries quickly and efficiently.
  • Provide Avid Media Composer 1st line support.
  • Raise problems and seek appropriate solutions with Engineering and Technical Operations Manager when required.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum experience working in a professional edit support role or post-production environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Avid Media Composer or similar NLE.
  • Good understanding of video formats, files, frame rates, and resolutions, and familiarity with working with different video codecs.
  • Good IT skills, PC and Mac literate.
  • Excellent and accurate attention to detail - data input and checking.
  • Ability to communicate well with internal departments.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and solve problems.
  • A desire to learn and an interest in the post-production industry and technology in general.
