About the Role

Oxford Instruments is seeking a skilled Production Technician to join our team and contribute to the assembly and build of high-tech products. As a key member of our Production team, you will be responsible for building systems, sub-assemblies, and piece parts for complex systems efficiently, while maintaining the highest quality levels and adhering to ISO standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble complex systems, sub-assemblies, and piece parts to meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure that all build activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Identify and resolve build problems, and report technical issues using the FRACAS process.
  • Maintain technical competence by undertaking necessary training and staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Act as a point of reference for technicians within the build area, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Train and guide less experienced technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Contribute to the performance of the Production Team through continuous improvement initiatives and suggestions.
  • Work on a rotating shift pattern, as notified by your Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Time served Electrical apprenticeship or City and Guilds part 3, or HND, HNC, or BTech level 3.
  • Detail wiring skills to precision level, including lead-free soldering, panel wiring to schematics, and ability to read electrical drawings.
  • Ability to fault find and implement corrective action.
  • Ideal combination of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assembly skills.
  • Ideal experience of working in the semiconductor industry.
  • PC skills and good communication skills.
  • Highly committed team player with high standards of build quality, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
