About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team at HCA Cancer Network. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in supporting patients with mental health needs throughout their care pathway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and management of patients' mental health conditions, working closely with the patient's multidisciplinary team and our Safeguarding Lead.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with mental health needs, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Upskill and train colleagues to manage acute mental health patient deteriorations and provide advice on management out of hours.
  • Complete risk assessments and provide advice on mental capacity assessments, building links with external inpatient mental health partners.
  • Manage challenging or disturbed behaviour, provide advice on medication, and participate in discharge planning for inpatients who require mental health support.
Requirements
  • Relevant post-registration experience at Band 6 in a specialty area (Mental Health).
  • Experience of developing policies and clinical pathways.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and external partners.
