Job Title: Mental Health Liaison Nurse

Location: Central London

Job Type: Full-time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £58,000 plus benefits and paid enhancements

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team in Central London. As a Mental Health Liaison Nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting patients with mental health needs in our inpatient units. You will work closely with other health professionals to plan and act on patient care needs, as well as social services and community services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the planning and management of a patient's mental health condition while a patient at our hospitals, including pre-admission planning and/or managing sudden acute mental health episodes, together with the patient's multi-disciplinary team and our Safeguarding Lead.
  2. Manage a caseload within your own scope of practice and with the guidance and support from the CNO of the facility and the wider clinical team.
  3. Upskill and train our colleagues to manage acute mental health patient deteriorations and provide advice on management out of hours, in consultation with psychiatrists.
  4. Complete risk assessments and provide advice on mental capacity assessments and build links with external inpatient mental health partners.
  5. Manage challenging or disturbed behavior, provide advice on medication, and participate in discharge planning for inpatients who will require mental health support.
  6. Demonstrate safe clinical judgment in evaluating, interpreting, and documenting the outcomes of mental health nursing and other interventions, including the evidence underpinning clinical practice.

Requirements:

  1. Relevant post-registration experience at Band 6 in the specialty area of Mental Health.
  2. Experience of developing policies and clinical pathways.
