Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Forensic Liaison & Diversion Service in South West London. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist mental health support to individuals within the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and consultation to colleagues in the criminal justice system and mental health services.
- Work within codes of practice and professional guidelines, ensuring accountability for your professional practice.
- Ensure observance of all relevant legal and statutory requirements.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in continuous professional development and supervision.
- Provide mentorship and supervision to students on placement.
- Collect and implement data from assessments made in police stations and courts, informing service development and improvement.
- Provide clinical assessments and reports to courts, mental health services, and prisons, ensuring a smooth and informed pathway of care.
- Assist senior staff in ensuring the team performs effectively and efficiently in providing high-quality provision.
- Make clinical judgments and respond to situations as they arise, ensuring the safety of clients and the community.
- Experience in working within complex mental health settings at Band 5 or above for 2 years, including forensic and/or community settings.
- Experience in undertaking detailed assessments of mental health, vulnerabilities, and risks, and communicating these effectively.
- A robust understanding of risk assessment and management strategies.
- Experience in providing professional support, supervision, and motivation of staff.
- Experience in implementing the principles and practice of the Recovery Approach and Trauma-Informed practice.
- Experience in multi-professional and multi-agency collaboration, including working in partnership with statutory and voluntary organizations.
- Experience in crisis/acute care pathway liaison psychiatry, home treatment, or S136 suite.
- Experience in engaging/supporting clinical research projects.
- Experience in supporting practice development in clinical areas.
- Experience in teaching/training, lecturer practitioner, or preceptorship.
