Career Opportunity

This role presents an exciting alternative career path for Registered General Nurses (RGNs) and qualified Paramedics with over three years of post-qualification experience.

The custody environment is dynamic and varied, ensuring that no two days are alike. During the police's 24-hour detention period, we deliver a high standard of care to detainees, addressing diverse needs ranging from substance dependency to acute medical conditions.

Our skilled healthcare professionals are trained to collect forensic samples, aiding police investigations.

Prior experience in forensics is not a prerequisite. As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will collaborate closely with law enforcement and receive comprehensive training to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

Work Schedule

If you are finding it challenging to achieve a satisfactory work-life balance and desire clearer boundaries, this position may be ideal for you.

The 4-on-4-off shift pattern allows for effective personal life planning well in advance. This schedule consists of two day shifts, two night shifts, followed by four days off.

This is exclusively a Bank Vacancy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting forensic sampling (including blood tests for road traffic offenses).
  • Providing guidance and referrals; assisting vulnerable individuals and supporting them in breaking the cycle of re-offending.
  • Administering substance misuse therapies.
  • Assessing and caring for detainees and staff within custody suites.
  • Managing acute medical conditions.
  • Encouraging good personal health practices.
  • Collaborating with Liaison and Diversion teams to identify mental health needs.
Essential Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or Paramedic qualification.
  • A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in acute medical care.

Previous experience in areas such as A&E, walk-in centers, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, or prison settings, as a Paramedic Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or in other relevant fields would be advantageous.
