Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Specialist to play a pivotal role in delivering commercial projects, refining methodologies, and managing extensive omic datasets. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with experts in machine learning, bioinformatics, and plant biology to shape the future of our technology and its applications across various agricultural subsectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Run Pipelines: Design and implement efficient pipelines for RNA-Seq data processing and analysis.
  • Conduct Advanced Analyses: Perform both statistical and supervised machine learning analyses of high-dimensional datasets to tackle specific biological questions.
  • Enhance Bioinformatics Pipelines: Innovate and enhance our bioinformatics and analysis pipelines to improve performance and increase functionality.
  • Utilize High-Performance Computing: Leverage high-performance computing resources to efficiently execute research tasks.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Actively contribute to technical team discussions with creative and problem-solving insights.
  • Present Results: Communicate the results of your analysis to commercial clients and colleagues in a clear, understandable way.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Bioinformatics: Proven expertise in bioinformatics, particularly with RNA-Seq data analysis and machine learning approaches – preferably applied to plant/crop datasets.
  • Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in Python and R.
  • Unix/Linux Environment: Familiarity with working on the command line in Unix/Linux environments, including using High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters and/or cloud computing services.
  • Workflow Management: Experience with workflow management systems, such as Nextflow or Snakemake.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze complex biological data and produce interpretable results through graphs, tables, and visualizations.
  • Communication: Excellent communication of technical findings to commercial clients.
  • Problem-Solving: You are an independent and collaborative problem-solver with high standards, capable of prioritizing and shifting focus as needed.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Bioinformatics: PhD in Bioinformatics or a related field, or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
