About the Role

This role is part of a team responsible for recovering income following non-payment of an invoice. You will use your excellent technical knowledge and proactive approach to improve income collection and reduce debt owed to the authority. You will build rapport with people we support while assisting with in-depth queries in a professional, diplomatic, and supportive manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a front-facing role for all people approaching the Financial Assessment & Income Unit, dealing with high volumes of contact with the public promptly and sensitively using a customer-focused approach.
  • Work to agreed targets to recover monies owed to the authority as a result of non-payment of invoices.
  • Accurately and efficiently communicate with debtors and authorized third parties to ensure payment of monies owing.
  • Negotiate and agree instalment plans to maximize income collected for the authority.
  • Process, maintain, and monitor financial records.
Requirements
  • Educated to minimum GCSE level 4 in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to take a methodical and analytical approach.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Confident telephone manner.
  • Ability to deliver in a target-led environment, prioritize, and work to deadlines.
