Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technology Risk Manager to collaborate with the Director of Enterprise Risk and senior leadership in establishing and sustaining a robust technology and data risk management framework.

Your role will involve providing independent and proactive insights and challenges regarding the identification, assessment, management, monitoring, and reporting of the organization’s technology risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Enterprise Risk in formulating, promoting, and integrating risk management practices and a culture that aligns with our risk appetite and strategic objectives.
  • Serve as a senior risk advisor to the Technology and/or Data divisions, including participation in Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings and related risk reporting.
  • Offer trusted counsel to key stakeholders, including executives and senior management, on maintaining technology, data, and information security risks in accordance with the organization’s risk appetite and relevant legal and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the organization’s Internal Model for Operational Risk by developing and maintaining technology, data, and information security risk scenarios in collaboration with risk owners and other essential stakeholders.
  • Foster an environment of trust and open communication to build a cohesive spirit among Lines 1 and 2 colleagues.
  • Oversee the adequacy of technology-related risk mitigation strategies for both new and existing business activities.
  • Enhance proficiency in utilizing the organization’s risk management systems and tools, supporting the Technology division in identifying, assessing, and reporting risks at the departmental level.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s procedures, policies, guidelines, and reporting requirements, as well as relevant regulatory and statutory obligations.
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members regarding best practices in IT risk management.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in IT risk management.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing technology, data, and information security risk management, particularly in change management, application development, and Cloud environments, with a proven track record in regulated industry sectors.
  • Experience in the second or third line of defense is preferred, including managing reporting frameworks and understanding the risk management needs of executives, risk committees, and boards.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Life and Pensions or broader Financial Services.
  • Strong grasp of technology and information security risk management practices and their application.
  • Ability to identify emerging risk issues related to new technologies and facilitate their understanding and management.
  • Solid understanding of relevant regulations, including FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) handbook and Solvency 2 Directive requirements, as well as standards and frameworks concerning technology, data, and information security risks.
  • Technical knowledge of hybrid network environments, particularly regarding information security, ICT, and Cloud risks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiation, presentation, and report writing capabilities.
  • Strong focus on delivery and organizational/project management skills to coordinate and execute plans within agreed timelines.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence use cases and associated risks is advantageous.
