Job Title: Workshop Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our team at Brammer Buck & Hickman. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth logistical operation of our workshop and ensuring that all related jobs are carried out efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the workshop operations, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Oversee the supervision of all staff and welfare when working or in and around the workshop.
  • Manage the receipt and dispatch of deliveries, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and accurate.
  • Collaborate closely with the administration team to ensure seamless communication and data management.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to identify and meet the needs of machining, repairs, and workshop-related work requirements.
  • Assist and control health and safety management, including PAT testing, insurance, and other relevant certifications.
  • Maintain all vehicles, ensuring that they are in good working order and that vehicle check sheets are up to date.
  • Supervise and control COSHH and data sheets as required in the workshop.
  • Manage electronic file management, ensuring that all relevant documents are stored securely and are easily accessible.
  • Use the Emir system to track job progress, ensuring that all jobs are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure that all photos taken on jobs are saved in relevant drives on Emir, along with the administration team.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all tooling and equipment in the workshop and for site work.
  • Update, review, and control the workshop asset list.
  • Compile, modify, and maintain Knowlton & Newman paperwork systems, in liaison with Maidstone management and HR.
  • Supervise Engineers when in the workshop, ensuring that they are working safely and efficiently.
  • Organize daily operations, liaising with Project Managers to ensure that all parts, tools, and equipment are ready for Engineers on all jobs.
  • Oversee and supervise the use of vehicles, scheduling daily and liaising weekly.
  • Use the forklift truck when required, completing daily safety checks and maintenance.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and wear the correct PPE at all times.
  • Attend weekly management meetings and weekly WIP report meetings.
  • Close supervision and inform/discuss with the KNM Manager regarding Workshop Fitter's workload and weekly tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workshop at all times.
  • Organize deliveries to customer locations and collections when required from suppliers and/or customers.
  • At the end of each day, ensure that the workshop is left clean and tidy, and all equipment and RAMS required for the next day are ready for Engineers.
  • Lead by example in all aspects of work and in terms of respect for colleagues.
  • Manage unexpected occurrences by taking appropriate action, particularly in emergency situations.
  • Control and supervise fire alarm procedures, roll calls, and all tests.
  • Carry out monthly H&S inspections in the workshop.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from the management team, in line with workload and necessary requirements to complete all work, site, or workshop safely and in line with company/client expectations.
  • Provide accurate assessments of works and labour requirements to undertake remedial repairs.
  • Oversee and provide correct identification of components on repair jobs.
  • Build reports and provide summaries of equipment failings on customer equipment.
  • Report near misses/hazards.
  • Ensure works are completed to budgeted labour requirements.
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime as required.
