Job Overview

As the Automation Operations Supervisor, you will lead and manage the Automation Team, ensuring optimal performance and availability of automated systems during your shift. Your role will involve a blend of technical guidance and hands-on maintenance, dedicating equal time to team leadership and direct maintenance tasks.

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of your shift team through effective planning and organization.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to enhance team capabilities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage team performance.
  • Analyze data to enhance operational efficiency in alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Promote and uphold safe working practices.
  • Perform maintenance and servicing on all automated equipment on-site.
  • Execute both planned and reactive repairs on automated material handling systems, including conveyors, sorters, and robotics.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Respond promptly to automation faults and breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Work proactively to enhance automation performance.
  • Complete necessary reports using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft software.
  • Support service tracking and analyze error rates, contributing to corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while overseeing hazardous tasks.
  • Lead shift handover meetings and participate in other site meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Automation Manager and Head of Automation.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within the automation sector.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement, always seeking to optimize automation operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of building relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • An inspiring leader who can coach and guide their team towards success, including managing difficult conversations and performance issues.
