Role Overview:

The primary objective of this position is to spearhead the evolution of Ardagh's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) procurement to bolster the glass and metal production sectors in attaining a sustainable competitive edge and delivering industry-leading value. The Head of ICT Procurement will play a pivotal role within the global ICT leadership team, collaborating closely with the Chief Information Officer to drive transformation initiatives. This role emphasizes the development and execution of exemplary procurement strategies in alignment with group policies, supported by key stakeholders to achieve substantial cost efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the global development and execution of exemplary procurement strategies for the ICT function, aligned with the broader Ardagh and ICT vision.
  2. Identify and capitalize on opportunities for cost reduction and process enhancement.
  3. Engage with senior leaders and stakeholders to synchronize procurement efforts with organizational goals.
  4. Assess, negotiate, and establish partnerships with suppliers to secure optimal terms and conditions.
  5. Build and sustain robust relationships with essential suppliers and service providers.
  6. Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance and address any performance-related issues.
  7. Oversee the formulation, negotiation, and management of contracts for ICT products and services.
  8. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
  9. Effectively manage contract renewals and the overall contract lifecycle.
  10. Guide and mentor a team of ICT procurement specialists.
  11. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence.
  12. Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
  13. Implement cost control strategies and monitor savings against established targets.
  14. Analyze expenditure data to uncover cost-saving opportunities.
  15. Identify and mitigate risks associated with ICT procurement.
  16. Ensure business continuity by securing essential ICT supplies and services.
  17. Stay updated on market trends and potential disruptions.
  18. Collaborate closely with ICT, finance, legal, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for procurement initiatives.
  19. Communicate procurement strategies and policies to stakeholders at all levels.
  20. Serve as a point of contact for procurement-related inquiries and issues.
  21. Facilitate internal and external audits of the procurement function and its activities, leading efforts to address findings as necessary.
  22. Contribute significantly to the global procurement leadership team on matters of procurement excellence and the broader transformation and operation of the procurement function.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  2. Membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  3. Extensive experience in developing and implementing procurement strategies for information and communication technology (minimum of 10 years).
  4. Expertise in core procurement competencies, including category management, supplier relationship management, digital procurement and automation, sustainability, compliance and governance, risk management, and contracting.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams within a multicultural international organization, leading change.
  6. Proven track record in managing global procurement operations.
  7. Experience in a leadership role with a focus on team development.
  8. Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma is advantageous.
  9. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.
  10. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  11. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  12. Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  13. In-depth understanding of ICT products, services, and market dynamics.
  14. Adept at functioning in an agile project environment.
  15. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (English).
  16. Strong management and organizational abilities.
  17. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others, including senior leaders.
  18. Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
  19. Ability to think globally while acting locally, combining strategic thinking with a commitment to excellence in execution and accountability for results.
